TEHRAN, Iran (CHATNEWSTV) — Senegalese Ambassador Saliou Niang Ding, head of African envoys in Tehran, and Sierra Leone’s Ambassador Salamu Kromah met Monday with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, alongside Seyed Mehdi Hosseini, executive secretary of the Iran-Africa Economic Cooperation Summit.
Araghchi praised the recent Africa Day ceremony held in Tehran as “a symbol of friendship between Iran and Africa,” and highlighted the success of three rounds of the Iran-Africa Economic Cooperation Summit talks.
“These events are crucial to deepen mutual understanding of our capacities and to expand relations, especially among businesspeople, investors, and producers in both the public and private sectors,” Araghchi said.
The ambassadors, representing the African diplomatic community in Tehran, expressed gratitude for Araghchi’s valuable presence and remarks at the Africa Day event.
“We appreciate Minister Araghchi’s leadership in fostering closer ties,” said Niang Ding on behalf of the African envoys. “We remain committed to strengthening economic and commercial cooperation between Iran and Africa.”
Hosseini provided an update on the summit’s progress, particularly the third round held in May 2025 in Tehran, which saw wide participation from Iranian and African officials and business leaders.
“The summit has yielded positive results, including numerous agreements and contracts,” Hosseini said. He also announced plans for a joint summit of Iranian and African leaders, supported by Iran’s first vice president and foreign minister.
The meeting concluded with the presentation of commemorative plaques by the African ambassadors and Hosseini, recognizing the Foreign Ministry’s support in organizing Africa Day and the Iran-Africa Economic Cooperation Summit.
