Sporting Lagos FC delivered a dominant performance, demolishing FC Tokyo 4-0 to win the prestigious 2024 Gothia Cup.
FC Tokyo reached the B17 final of the Gothia Cup’s 48th edition after a dramatic comeback in the semifinals, overcoming a two-goal deficit to win 3-2 against Swedish club IF Brommapojkarna. In contrast, Sporting Lagos FA displayed tremendous determination and power in a thrilling 9-goal encounter against Beyond Limits FA, ultimately defeating the Remo Stars youngsters 5-4 at the SKF Arena stadium to secure their place in the final.
This crucial victory marked the first time the Lagos-based academy had reached a major tournament final in their history. Coach Shola Adegun and his team started strong, exuding confidence and quickly dispelling any doubts with a clinical and ruthless performance against the Japanese side.
