Nigerian filmmaker, Stanley Ajemba popularly known as Stanley Ontop, has alleged that gospel singer Mercy Chinwo was behind the recent arrest of Vincent Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan.
Stanley Ontop made the allegation in a post on his official Instagram page on Sunday in reaction to reports that VeryDarkMan was arrested by GTBank.
Recall that VeryDarkMan was arrested by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday, May 2, after accompanying his mother to GTBank to investigate a series of alleged unauthorised withdrawals from her account.
Reacting to the self-acclaimed activist’s arrest, Stanley Ontop accused Mercy Chinwo of ordering the arrest. He also criticised Nigerian religious institutions, saying they have become powerful enough to manipulate law enforcement agencies.
He said, “GTBANK is not responsible for VDM arrest at their premises. Mercy Chinwo is responsible for the arrest of VDM.”
“Church is another government agency that uses our police, EFCC or military to intimidate citizens. Mercy Chinwo is the problem now not GTBank.”
