STOCKHOLM (Chatnewstv.com) — Sweden’s Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa met Thursday with Estonia’s Minister of Economy and Industry Erkki Keldo for talks on Ukraine, global trade and the European Union’s competitiveness.
The ministers discussed strengthening support for Ukraine, EU trade relations with the United States and China, and the need for more free trade agreements to boost resilience in Europe’s economy.
“Close Nordic-Baltic cooperation is more important than ever,” Dousa said in a statement. “Sweden and Estonia are strong proponents of more free trade agreements and an open, free and rules-based trading system. Sweden’s and Estonia’s support to Ukraine is unwavering.”
He added the two countries are “cooperating closely to boost support to Ukraine – including its economy and trade – and to put greater pressure on Russia through measures such as sanctions and increased import tariffs.”
The meeting was the second bilateral encounter between Dousa and Keldo this year, following talks in February.
