TG Omori Reveals Failed Kidney Transplant After Brother’s Donation

Award-winning cinematographer and music producer ThankGod Omori, widely known as TG Omori, has disclosed that he recently underwent a failed kidney transplant following his brother’s donation to help treat his kidney-related ailment.

Omori shared the heartbreaking news on Wednesday, shortly after expressing on social media that he was enduring severe hardships and requesting prayers from Nigerians. He posted, “One year after my kidney crashed, I just had a failed transplant at St Nicholas Hospital Lagos. Pray for me.”

The filmmaker further revealed that he had already undergone surgery three times, but remained resilient, stating that he was “not just destined to die today.”

Earlier reports had highlighted Omori’s brother’s significant sacrifice, donating one of his kidneys in an attempt to save Omori’s life. Omori had previously posted, “Yesterday, my only brother gave me one of his kidneys so I could live again. Keep my spirit alive. I don’t wanna die.”

TG Omori, who has been notably absent from the public eye for some time, shared a poignant image of himself in a hospital bed, receiving oxygen and visibly emotional. His health struggles had been hinted at in his cryptic social media posts before the failed transplant. Last month, he wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “If I cross your mind, sometimes say a prayer for me. Poor marijuana, they blame you for all my rasclaat. You wanna eat, I wanna live.”

These revelations have sparked an outpouring of concern and support from netizens, who have flooded social media with messages of encouragement and prayers for his recovery.

One user on X.com, #Mr Ebony, commented, “The biggest sacrifices are from families, especially brothers. Quick recovery bruh.” Another, tweeting under the handle #Ikorodu President, offered, “Ohh really, hadn’t been you tell me I would have gladly give you one of mine so you can live.”

Other supporters have also shared their well-wishes, with #Honest30bgfan stating, “Stay strong, wishing you speed recovery. Nothing go do you in Jesus name.” Meanwhile, #Realtimmywrld reflected on Omori’s past lifestyle choices, saying, “When they tell you to stop smoking, you guys won’t listen. Thank God for giving you a second chance.” A user named Winifred added, “Such a sweet soul he is. Wishing you a quick healing.”

TG Omori, affectionately known as Boy Director, has been a prominent figure in the Nigerian music industry since 2018, directing music videos for many top artists, including Olamide, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tekno, Kizz Daniel, Fireboy DML, Falz, Naira Marley, Asake, and others. His talent and influence have made him a household name among music lovers across the country.
