ByteDance has suspended TikTok in the United States (U.S.).
The app disconnected access to its users in US in the late hours of Saturday, shortly before the law banning it from the country took effect.
In a pop-up notification to its users in the state, TikTok said, “A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the US. Unfortunately that means you can’t use TikTok for now.”
“We are fortunate that President Trump has indicated that he will work with us on a solution to reinstate TikTok once he takes office,” the message said. “Please stay tuned!”
