Port Harcourt — Former All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Tonye Cole, has called for an urgent meeting between four key political figures in Rivers State to resolve the ongoing political crisis. Cole emphasized that peace in the oil-rich state can only be achieved if these leaders come together to address the situation.
In a televised interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Tuesday, Cole suggested that the solution to Rivers State’s unrest lies in the hands of former Governor Peter Odili, former Minister Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor Nyesom Wike, and current Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
“I have already said some actors need to be on the table. There are four of them who must sit down at a table and decide that Rivers State is more important than personal interest and agenda. Till then we are not going to have peace,” Cole stated.
The political tensions in the state have been heightened following last Saturday’s local government elections. Cole believes that only the active involvement of these four prominent figures, under the guidance of President Bola Tinubu, can restore order.
“The President can superintend this if he really wants peace in Rivers State,” Cole said, adding that a strategic decision needs to be made to guide the state’s political future. “Until that is done, as soon as Fubara’s time is about to end, you will see an all-out war.”
