PLANO, Texas (CHATNEWSTV) — Toyota has unveiled the all-new 2026 RAV4, a fully electrified sixth-generation model that blends rugged design with cutting-edge tech and performance — and for the first time, includes a GR SPORT edition inspired by the automaker’s motorsport heritage.
“The all-new RAV4 offers something for everyone and is ready to take on all of life’s adventures,” said David Christ, Toyota Division’s group vice president and general manager.
The redesigned RAV4, still America’s best-selling compact SUV, will be offered exclusively as a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). Three distinct design styles — Core, Sport, and Rugged — will define the seven available grades, including the first-ever GR SPORT and an updated Woodland edition.
More Power, More Choices
The new PHEV system delivers up to 320 horsepower and boasts a 20% increase in all-electric range, now offering an estimated 50 miles. The RAV4 HEV also gets a power bump, with AWD models producing 236 hp and FWD versions — offered for the first time — delivering 226 hp.
Toyota is also expanding drivetrain options: FWD will now be available on the hybrid LE, XLE, and SE grades, while AWD is standard across all PHEV variants, including the new Woodland and GR SPORT models.
The PHEV XSE and Woodland trims will support DC fast charging, reaching 80% in about 30 minutes. Other grades will use J1772 charging, with an 11-kW AC onboard charger available for faster home or public charging.
A Sportier Side with GR SPORT
The GR SPORT trim, developed with Toyota GAZOO Racing, brings track-inspired performance to the SUV world. With a GR-tuned suspension, unique body styling, and standard AWD, the GR SPORT is poised to attract drivers looking for dynamic handling and bold aesthetics.
It features a GR Matrix grille, 20-inch wheels with summer tires, and interior elements like aluminum pedals, paddle shifters, and GR-embossed seats.
Woodland Grade Goes Standalone
Previously a package, the Woodland model now stands as its own rugged-grade. It includes all-terrain tires, raised suspension, integrated Rigid Industries LED lights, and exclusive design features like a black split grille and roof rails with crossbars. The grade also introduces an exclusive Urban Rock paint color and red-orange interior accents.
Built for the Modern Driver
Inside, the RAV4 sports a reimagined cabin with up to a 12.9-inch touchscreen and a standard 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. A new voice assistant and Toyota’s Arene software platform enable smarter navigation, connectivity, and media controls.
The interior design varies by trim, with options like BRIN•NAUB® microsuede on GR SPORT and Woodland-exclusive patterned panels and branded all-weather mats.
The SUV’s structure is built on Toyota’s TNGA-K platform, enhancing rigidity and ride quality. Towing capacity reaches 3,500 pounds on AWD models like the HEV Woodland and PHEV XSE.
Safety and Tech Get a Boost
The 2026 RAV4 will debut Toyota Safety Sense 4.0, a comprehensive update powered by Arene. Details on the new system’s features will be released ahead of the vehicle’s arrival in dealerships later this year.
Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ will be standard, with dual Bluetooth® connectivity and enhanced voice controls included.
First launched in 1996, the RAV4 helped define the compact SUV category. Nearly three decades later, it remains a top seller — now reimagined for an electrified future.
Pricing will be announced closer to the launch.
