WASHINGTON (CHATNEWSTV) — Former President Donald Trump revealed he spoke with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum about a new security agreement aimed at curbing the flow of fentanyl and illegal migrants into the United States.
In a photo tweet posted on X Monday, Trump said, “It was a very friendly conversation wherein she agreed to immediately supply 10,000 Mexican soldiers on the border separating Mexico and the United States.” These soldiers, according to Trump, will be tasked with halting the flow of fentanyl and migrants.
The deal also includes a temporary halt on anticipated tariffs for a month, during which high-level talks will take place. “We further agreed to immediately pause the anticipated tariffs for a one month period during which we will have negotiations headed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent, and Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, along with high-level representatives of Mexico,” Trump wrote.
Trump expressed optimism about the potential for a “deal” between the two countries, adding, “I look forward to participating in those negotiations, with President Sheinbaum, as we attempt to achieve a ‘deal’ between our two countries.”
