WASHINGTON (CHATNEWSTV) — The United States on Monday congratulated Karol Nawrocki on his election as President of Poland, calling the Central European nation a “model Ally” and reaffirming close cooperation on defense and energy.
“The United States extends congratulations to Karol Nawrocki on his election as President of the Republic of Poland,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement released by the State Department. “The United States and Poland share a strong and enduring partnership rooted in mutual commitment to security, prosperity, and the rule of law.”
Rubio praised Poland’s democratic process and the direction signaled by voters, noting that “the Polish people have spoken and support a stronger military and securing their borders.”
He also underlined Warsaw’s importance to NATO, saying Poland “is a key contributor to strengthening the NATO Alliance and its sovereign integrity against today’s challenges and those ahead.”
On the economic front, the secretary highlighted U.S.-Polish cooperation in the energy sector, particularly in nuclear power. “Our cooperation in the energy sector — including nuclear energy — supports our expanding commercial ties and advances Poland’s energy security,” he said.
Rubio concluded by saying the United States looks forward to working with President-elect Nawrocki and the new Polish government to “further our shared priorities.”
Nawrocki, a conservative historian and head of Poland’s Institute of National Remembrance, ran on a platform of national security, defense modernization, and historical identity. His victory follows a tense campaign season amid heightened concerns over regional stability and migration along Poland’s eastern borders.
