WASHINGTON (Chatnewstv.com) — U.S President Donald Trump said Saturday in a post on Truth Social that the only way to end the war between Russia and Ukraine is through a peace agreement rather than a ceasefire, after holding discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska Friday, and phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders.
“A great and very successful day in Alaska!” Trump wrote on his social media platform.
“The meeting with President Vladimir Putin of Russia went very well, as did a late night phone call with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine, and various European Leaders, including the highly respected Secretary General of NATO.”
Trump said that both leaders agreed a direct peace deal would be more effective than a temporary truce.
“It was determined by all that the best way to end the horrific war between Russia and Ukraine is to go directly to a Peace Agreement, which would end the war, and not a mere Ceasefire Agreement, which oftentimes do not hold up,” he wrote.
According to Trump, Zelenskyy will travel to Washington on Monday to meet him at the White House. If successful, Trump said a meeting with Putin could follow.
“Potentially, millions of people’s lives will be saved,” Trump said.
