WASHINGTON (CHATNEWSTV) — The United States on Sunday condemned a Russian missile strike on the Ukrainian city of Sumy, calling the Palm Sunday attack “horrifying” and reaffirming support for efforts to end the war.
“This is a tragic reminder of why President Trump and his Administration are putting so much time and effort into trying to end this war and achieve a just and durable peace,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement.
Rubio extended “deepest condolences” to the victims of the attack, which reportedly left dozens dead and many more wounded in the northeastern Ukrainian city.
Ukrainian officials described the strike as one of the deadliest in recent months, hitting residential areas as families gathered to mark the Christian holy day.
