WASHINGTON (CHATNEWSTV) — The United States on Friday congratulated Belizean Prime Minister John Briceño on his re-election, praising the country’s commitment to democracy and reaffirming bilateral ties.
“We applaud the people of Belize for their unwavering commitment to a democratic electoral process,” U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement.
Rubio highlighted the strong U.S.-Belize partnership, citing shared democratic values and cooperation on security and economic development. He commended Belize’s efforts to combat transnational crime, illicit trafficking, and corruption and emphasized the importance of continued collaboration on border security and illegal migration.
