ABUJA — U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has congratulated Cameroon’s President Paul Biya on his inauguration, pledging deeper cooperation between Washington and Yaoundé on security and regional stability.
In a readout released on Monday, Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott said, “Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with President Paul Biya to congratulate him on his inauguration.”
Pigott added that both leaders discussed “deepening the partnership between the United States and Cameroon to advance shared goals, including strengthening security as well as achieving regional peace and prosperity for both nations.”
According to the statement, Rubio also commended Cameroon for its role “as a partner in the fight against terrorism,” reaffirming U.S. support for continued collaboration across the region.
