WASHINGTON (CHATNEWSTV) — U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau on Friday reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to a strong and lasting partnership with Nigeria during a call with Nigerian Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar, the State Department said.
In a readout, spokesperson Tammy Bruce said the two diplomats “discussed several key areas of mutual interest including strengthening commercial ties, enhancing security, and deepening the bilateral relationship.”
“The Deputy Secretary underscored the importance of Nigeria as a strategic partner in Africa,” Bruce said.
The call follows ongoing efforts by both countries to broaden cooperation across economic and regional security issues.
