RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — The United States has reaffirmed its commitment to achieving a “just and sustainable” peace in Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said Tuesday following high-level talks in Saudi Arabia.
“We highly value President [Donald] Trump’s leadership,” Yermak told reporters. “The United States is best positioned to help achieve a just peace. They have the necessary leverage, and today, we heard from our partners that they are ready to continue working toward this goal.”
Yermak emphasized that a key outcome of the talks was the immediate resumption of U.S. assistance to Ukraine, including intelligence sharing. He also confirmed Ukraine’s willingness to accept a U.S.-proposed 30-day ceasefire, provided Russia agrees to it.
“The whole world will see who truly wants peace and who merely talks about it,” he said, adding that the next step would involve U.S. officials discussing the proposal with Russia.
The joint statement issued after the meeting underscored the alignment between Ukraine, the U.S., and European partners in pursuing a negotiated resolution to the conflict.
