WASHINGTON (CHATNEWSTV) — U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday congratulated Senegal on its 65th Independence Day, reaffirming Washington’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with the West African nation.
“On behalf of the United States of America, I want to express my sincere congratulations to the people of Senegal,” Rubio said in a statement.
He highlighted Senegal’s leadership in protecting fundamental freedoms and promoting regional security, adding that the U.S. looks forward to expanding collaboration on key initiatives.
“We look forward to continuing to partner with Senegal to build a stronger, safer, and more prosperous world,” he said.
Senegal, which gained independence from France in 1960, remains a key U.S. ally in West Africa, with cooperation spanning security, trade, and governance.
