WASHINGTON (ChatnewsTV) — U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken extended congratulations to the people of Mali on Sunday, marking the 64th anniversary of the West African nation’s independence.

“On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of Mali on the 64th anniversary of your independence,” Blinken said in a statement.

He reaffirmed the U.S.’s commitment to its partnership with Mali, emphasizing collaboration in key areas such as health, education, governance, and security. “Since that day, the United States has been a steadfast partner of the Malian people, helping to build a better future through cooperation,” Blinken noted.

Addressing Mali’s struggles with violent extremism, Blinken expressed sympathy for the losses endured by the country this year. “The United States recognizes the many sacrifices and lives lost due to violent extremist organizations this year. We stand with the people of Mali in your efforts to achieve democracy, durable peace, and prosperity,” he added.
