LONDON (CHATNEWSTV) — UK Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch has pledged to tackle rising immigration, declaring the nation’s current system “broken” and promising significant reforms to reduce the number of migrants entering the country.
In a video circulating widely on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Badenoch criticized the UK’s handling of immigration over the last three decades, blaming successive governments for failing to address the issue.
“Immigration is at a pace too fast to maintain public services,” she said in the video shared on Wednesday.
“For decades, the entire political class of this country has presided over mass migration.”
Badenoch said the surge in immigration has placed unsustainable pressure on housing and public infrastructure, vowing to lead the Conservative Party in implementing a plan to reduce the numbers significantly.
“We need to take a new approach. I’m the new leader of the Conservative Party. We are going to do things differently. I’m saying no more. The system is broken. We cannot go on like this. We need to change,” Badenoch stated firmly.
The comments have sparked widespread discussion as the UK grapples with the complexities of immigration, including a significant influx from African countries like Nigeria. This trend, often referred to as “japa” in Nigerian parlance, describes the growing wave of citizens seeking better opportunities abroad due to economic and social challenges at home.
