LONDON (chatnewstv.com) — British Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke Sunday with the Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Abdullah II to express solidarity following what London described as a surge in Iranian missile and drone attacks across the Gulf region.
In separate calls, Starmer “expressed the U.K.’s solidarity in the face of dangerous Iranian escalation, which has seen indiscriminate missile and drone attacks launched at their countries in the last 24 hours,” a Downing Street statement said.
The leaders discussed the safety of civilians, including British nationals and military personnel, and voiced “deep concern” that strikes had hit civilian and commercial infrastructure, causing casualties, according to the statement.
Starmer said Britain had aircraft deployed as part of a coordinated defensive effort and would continue supporting regional partners, Downing Street said.
