LONDON (Chatnewstv.com) — Britain summoned Russia’s ambassador on Thursday to protest overnight strikes on Kyiv that killed civilians and damaged the offices of the British Council and the European Union Delegation.
“The UK condemns in the strongest terms these outrageous attacks on Ukrainians and the damage done to the British Council and EU Delegation,” a Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson said.
The Foreign Office said the bombardment was part of Russia’s escalating campaign against Ukrainian cities and civilians. “Russia’s increasing attacks on Ukrainian civilians and cities, including Kyiv, are an escalation of the war and deeply irresponsible and are further sabotaging international peace efforts,” the spokesperson said.
Foreign Secretary David Lammy has made clear to Moscow that the strikes will only strengthen Western resolve. “We have made clear to the Russians that such actions will only harden UK and Western resolve to support Ukraine and bring an end to this unjustified war,” the spokesperson added.
The Foreign Office urged Russia to halt its campaign. “Russia must stop this senseless killing and destruction immediately,” the statement said.
