KYIV, Ukraine (CHATNEWSTV) — Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian president’s office, on Friday held a virtual meeting with national security and diplomatic advisers from Nordic and Baltic states, emphasizing Ukraine’s need for stronger security guarantees and continued military support.
The talks included officials from Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Finland, and Sweden. Ukrainian Deputy Presidential Office Head Ihor Zhovkva also participated.
Yermak briefed his counterparts on the March 11 negotiations between Ukraine and the U.S. in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, aimed at achieving “a just and sustainable peace.” He welcomed the strong joint statement issued after the meeting and called for further coordination to bolster Ukraine’s position.
“Any negotiations on establishing a just peace in Ukraine must be preceded by reliable security guarantees,” Yermak said. “This is the cornerstone of lasting peace in Europe and an important element in deterring armed aggression.”
He thanked Nordic and Baltic countries for their “substantial assistance, especially military aid,” and urged them to expand their support. “We count on its expansion to strengthen Ukraine and our collective European security,” he said.
