KYIV, Ukraine (CHATNEWSTV) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron about the ongoing war, next steps in the peace process, and security guarantees for Ukraine.
Zelenskyy briefed Macron on the results of a recent meeting between Ukrainian and U.S. officials in Saudi Arabia, where Ukraine backed a U.S. proposal for an “unconditional 30-day ceasefire.” However, he accused Russia of “trying to impose conditions and destabilize the ceasefire process.”
Macron, in turn, provided details on a March 11 meeting in Paris among military chiefs of staff, focused on strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
The two leaders also discussed preparations for long-term security guarantees, with Zelenskyy noting that teams on both sides were working toward a “clear and full vision” of the framework.
“The next steps and upcoming contacts remain crucial,” Zelenskyy said, thanking Macron for his continued support and efforts toward achieving “a just and lasting peace for Ukraine.”
