WASHINGTON — United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó on Tuesday to discuss the war in Ukraine, regional stability, and strategic cooperation in energy and defense, according to a readout from the State Department.
“The Secretary emphasized the urgency of ending the war in Ukraine and ensuring lasting peace and stability in the region,” said State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce.
The two officials also explored strengthening bilateral cooperation in energy and defense, amid ongoing geopolitical shifts in Europe and the transatlantic alliance.
The meeting underscores Washington’s continued engagement with European allies as it seeks to navigate the ongoing conflict and its broader security implications.
