WASHINGTON (Chatnewstv.com) — The United States officially took over the presidency of the Group of 20 (G20) on Sunday, vowing to refocus the influential bloc on its foundational mission of spurring economic growth and prosperity under the leadership of President Donald Trump.
The U.S. presidency, which runs through 2026, will center on what the State Department’s Office of the Spokesperson called “much-needed reforms” built around three core themes.
“Under President Trump’s leadership, we will return the G20 to focusing on its core mission of driving economic growth and prosperity to produce results,” the Office of the Spokesperson said in a media note released Sunday.
The new agenda prioritizes:
Unleashing economic prosperity by limiting regulatory burdens.
Unlocking affordable and secure energy supply chains.
Pioneering new technologies and innovations.
The U.S. will host the G20 Leaders’ Summit in 2026, coinciding with the country’s 250th anniversary.
“We look forward to hosting the G20 Leaders’ Summit in one of America’s greatest cities, Miami, Florida, during the 250th anniversary year of the United States,” the note concluded.
