LAGOS, Nigeria (CHATNEWSTV) — Controversial social media activist, VeryDarkMan, has revealed that embattled rapper Naira Marley confided in him about owing his late signee, Mohbad, an undisclosed sum of money before Mohbad’s tragic death in September 2023.
In a video circulating on social media ahead of Mohbad’s 28th posthumous birthday, VeryDarkMan shared details of his conversation with Naira Marley, who allegedly disclosed the debt. The rapper reportedly told VeryDarkMan that the issue arose after Mohbad sought to work outside the contract and change the management provided by Marlian Music, the record label headed by Naira Marley.
“He told me how much he owed the boy. It’s not a small amount of money,” VeryDarkMan stated. “Their problem started when Mohbad began working outside the record label’s contract and requested to change the management the label provided for him.”
VeryDarkMan also revealed that he had offered Naira Marley the chance to use his platform to clear his name in the ongoing controversy surrounding Mohbad’s death, but the rapper declined.
“I asked Naira Marley why he is not coming out to show the public his own evidence — the business side — but he said God will fight his battles,” VeryDarkMan said.
The death of Mohbad, which has sparked widespread debate and accusations, remains shrouded in mystery. After exiting Marlian Music, Mohbad was reportedly embroiled in a dispute with Naira Marley and his associate Sam Larry, who was seen in a viral video allegedly assaulting the late singer. The two men were arrested and later granted bail following charges related to Mohbad’s death.
Despite their not-guilty pleas, fans continue to boycott Naira Marley’s music, with social media users persistently blaming him for the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s passing.
