Agency Report –
German world champion Laura Nolte finished third in the second monobob race in St Moritz in Switzerland on Saturday.
Nolte, who has been struggling with health issues, was 0.30 seconds behind the victorious US pilot Elana Meyers Taylor. Kaysha Love, also of the United States, took second place.
“I am very relieved, I’ve been feeling very unwell all week. Today has been somewhat better, although I didn’t warm up properly to save energy. However, I drove better than yesterday,” said Nolte, who had only managed ninth place with the small sled the previous day.
Lisa Buckwitz from Germany, who has already secured three World Cup victories in monobob this winter, finished sixth, behind Kim Kalicki also of Germany, but defended her overall World Cup lead ahead of Nolte.
“I made a good comeback from 12th to sixth. But today was not my day,” said Buckwitz.
