KYIV, Ukraine (CHATNEWSTV) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Tuesday reiterated Kyiv’s offer of a 30-day ceasefire, accusing Russia of escalating missile and drone attacks instead of responding to diplomatic overtures.
“Our proposal for a halt to the strikes, for a ceasefire of at least 30 days, still stands,” Zelenskyy said in a national address. “We are not withdrawing this proposal, as it offers a real chance for diplomacy. But it is Russia that the world sees giving no answer — no response except for new strikes.”
The president’s remarks followed one of the most intense barrages in recent months, with more than 140 drones and several ballistic missiles launched overnight by Russian forces. Cities including Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Sumy were hit, resulting in casualties.
“There are wounded. Tragically, there are killed. My condolences to all the families and loved ones,” Zelenskyy said, thanking first responders and air defense crews for their continued vigilance.
While Ukraine continues to push for new Western air defense systems and localize missile production, Zelenskyy hinted at active Ukrainian operations beyond its borders, saying military efforts were underway in Russia’s Kursk and Belgorod regions.
“We are defending Ukrainian land from enemy activity along the border,” he said, commending troops for their resilience.
Zelenskyy also signaled a deepening of economic ties with the U.S., noting that Ukraine’s parliament was poised to ratify a bilateral economic partnership agreement on Wednesday.
“Security and economy always go hand in hand,” he said, calling for predictable and long-term investment in Ukraine’s future.
As Western sanctions on Russia are expected to tighten, Zelenskyy emphasized that justice, though slow, remains “inevitable.”
“The only question is time,” he said. “War is a loss for everyone — including the aggressor.”
