As part of the side event of the 2023 Open Government Partnership (OGP) Global Summit, interested stakeholders and the general publicĀ are hereby invited to register and participate in a high-level interactive discussion panel in Telliskivi Creative City.
The engaging session, titled “Mainstreaming OGP at the Grassroots: The Joinbodi Experience,” will take place on the 8th of September from 10:00am ā 12:00pm Estonian time. The event will unfold inside the VƤgi Room within the vibrant backdrop of Telliskivi Creative City.
Members of the panel includes high powered delegation from Nigeria led by the following, Amara Nwankpa, Director of Public Policy Initiatives at Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Foundation, Gabriel Okeowo, BudgIT Executive Director, Jubril Shittu, Director PPDC Nigeria, Aliyu Edogi, Director of regulations, Bureau for public procurement, Former Commissioner for budget And Planning in Enugu state Hon. Dr. David Okelue Ugwunta, Alhaji Abubakar Garba, Registrar General Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Abayomi Akinbo, International Budget partnership, among others.
Central to the panel’s discourse will be a focused exploration of community-driven strategies for combating corruption. The session aims to shed light on the practical implementation of OGP ideals within communities and will offer a global audience insights from inspirational Nigerian experience.
Spotlight will be on the collaborative endeavors of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and governmental bodies in Nigeria, working in tandem to bring about transformative change on a community level.
Aligned with the overarching themes of the OGP Global Summit 2023, this session will serve as an educational platform. It will provide attendees with an in-depth understanding of the innovative “Joinbodi” methods, which harness the power of digital inclusion to empower local communities.
The session will delve into the pivotal role technology plays in fostering transparent governance and accountability policy-making. The exploration of diverse strategies to establish open government as the standard will be another key aspect of the discussion.
An essential outcome of this event will be the production of a comprehensive report. This report will outline the manner in which open government approaches serve as effective avenues for facilitating collective action. It is intended to be a valuable resource that will be distributed at the end of the event.
