Hong Kong, China to Host FIBA 3×3 UOQT 1 as Teams Gear Up for Paris 2024 Olympics

FIBA is delighted to reveal that Hong Kong, China will be the proud host of the FIBA 3×3 UOQT 1, the Olympic Qualifying Tournament slated for April 2024.

Having successfully hosted the FIBA 3×3 World Tour since 2022, Hong Kong, China has consistently proven its prowess in delivering both on-court excitement and off-court innovations. The city’s unique and creative approach has brought a fresh and thrilling perspective to the global basketball event.

Hong Kong, China’s past hosting of the FIBA 3×3 World Tour in 2022 and 2023 drew record-breaking attendance, with fervent fans packing the venue to capacity. The vibrant atmosphere and robust fan engagement showcased Hong Kong’s ability to create a captivating sports spectacle.

In addition to Hong Kong, FIBA 3×3 has disclosed the locations and dates for the upcoming Olympic Qualifying Tournaments:

  • FIBA 3×3 UOQT 2: Utsunomiya, Japan, scheduled from May 3 to 5, 2024.
  • FIBA 3×3 OQT: Debrecen, Hungary, set to take place from May 16 to 19, 2024.

Each tournament will feature top teams from around the globe vying for a coveted spot in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The FIBA 3×3 Olympic Qualifying Tournaments will see a total of 64 teams in action.

UOQT 1 – Hong Kong, China (April 2024)

MEN: Hong Kong, Netherlands, Mongolia, Latvia, Austria, Switzerland, Egypt, New Zealand

WOMEN: Hong Kong, Hungary, Netherlands, Azerbaijan, Poland, Egypt, Mongolia, Chile

UOQT 2 – Utsunomiya, Japan (May 3-5, 2024)

MEN: Egypt, Puerto Rico, Mongolia, Lithuania, Japan, France, Latvia

WOMEN: Kenya, Brazil, Australia, Netherlands, Japan, Germany, Canada, Austria

OQT – Debrecen, Hungary (May 23-26, 2024)

MEN: Hungary, Egypt, Madagascar, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mongolia, Japan, France, Lithuania, Netherlands, Latvia, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Poland

WOMEN: Hungary, Egypt, Tunisia, Canada, Chile, Japan, Mongolia, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Poland, Czechia, Italy, Israel

The eagerly awaited 3×3 Olympic event is scheduled from July 30 to August 5, 2024, at the iconic Place de la Concorde in the heart of Paris. This historic location, near landmarks such as the Grand Palais, Champs-Elysées, and The Louvre, promises to be the perfect setting for the dynamic atmosphere of 3×3 basketball during the Games.
