Abuja, 27th December — Ghali Umar Na”Abba, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday in Abuja. According to a family source, Na”Abba succumbed to a brief illness while receiving treatment at an Abuja hospital.
Born on September 27, 1958, into the family of Umar Na’Abba, a prominent businessman in Tudun Wada, Kano City, Ghali Umar Na”Abba’s life journey was marked by a commitment to education and public service. He embarked on his academic pursuits at Jakara Primary School in Kano, obtaining his First School Leaving Certificate in 1969. His educational journey continued at Rumfa College, Kano, where he earned his West African School Certificate. Subsequently, from 1974 to 1976, Na”Abba attended the School of Preliminary Studies in Kano, paving the way for his admission into Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in October 1976, where he secured a bachelor’s degree in Political Science in 1979.
Demonstrating a thirst for knowledge and a dedication to leadership, Ghali Umar Na”Abba furthered his education by completing a postgraduate program on Leadership and Good Governance at the prestigious Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, in the United States in 2004.
