The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, His Excellency Yusuf Maitama Tuggar (OON) and the Minister of External Affairs of India, His Excellency Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar co – Chaired the 6th Session of Nigeria- India Joint Commission on Monday, 22nd January, 2024.
The event, which took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, Nigeria provided the platform for both sides to deliberate and strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as the Economy, Trade, Culture, Consular and Aviation among others. A major highlight of the meeting was the signing of an MoU on Cooperation in the field of Renewable Energy by the two Ministers.
Participants at the event included the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Adamu Ibrahim Lamuwa, the Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ambassador G. Balasubramanian, the immediate past Ambassador of Nigeria to India, Ambassador Ahmed Sule, and the Director Economic, Trade and Investment Dept. of the Ministry, Ambassador Bolaji Akinremi among other prominent participants and representatives of relevant MDAs.
