Enugu Residents Commend Mba For Resuscitating Abandoned Projects, Urge Swift Action on Encroachment Issues

Residents across Enugu State are expressing their appreciation for Governor Barr. Peter Mbah’s commitment to fulfilling his promise of reviving dormant assets and completing abandoned projects. Notably, the International Conference Centre (ICC) and the Hotel Presidential have been focal points of the administration’s efforts.

During the electioneering period and the 2023 economic summit, Governor Peter Mbah pledged to rejuvenate neglected projects in the state to enhance revenue. The commendation from residents indicates a positive response to the governor’s actions.

Concerns have been raised about the encroachment on the land housing the ICC by land grabbers. Many citizens are calling on the state government to ensure the removal of illegal structures to provide a conducive environment for the ICC. The sentiment is that the conference centre, once completed, will not only be a revenue-generating asset but also a key tourist attraction for the state.

Prof. Orji Aninwede, a resident, praised the governor’s initiatives, emphasizing the economic and tourism potential of the ICC. He urged the government to address the issue of illegal structures hampering the project’s progress.

Medical practitioner Dr. David Onyedikachi, who previously abstained from voting, commended Governor Mbah’s master plan, describing it as a “perfect blueprint” for the state. The governor’s proactive approach has won over residents like Dr. Onyedikachi, who expressed support for the ongoing projects.

Customers at local establishments, such as the Crunches and Root Restaurant, discussed the overdue completion of projects, emphasizing the need for the removal of structures around the ICC to restore its original design and aesthetics. Residents like Mr. Sam Ugwuoke urged the government to intervene and punish those involved in unauthorized transactions.

Investment banker Chief Johnson Arukwe highlighted the restoration of the conference centre’s original status as crucial for making Enugu the premier destination in the region. He criticized those building on the land as acting unlawfully and questioned the continuation of such activities after the previous administration’s efforts to stop them.

Pastor Oluchukwu Felix Ugwu accused the state government and some individuals within the present government of colluding with cronies to continue building on the ICC land. He called for assurances from the government that they represent the interests of all residents, regardless of class or status.

As Enugu State witnesses a resurgence in project completion, residents remain vigilant, urging swift action to protect valuable assets from encroachment and unauthorized development. Governor Barr. Peter Mbah’s commitment to delivering on promises continues to shape the public perception of his administration.
