Lebanon’s Shiite Hezbollah organisation has congratulated Yehya al-Sinwar
on his election as leader of the Palestinian militant group, Hamas.
The appointment followed the killing of Hamas Foreign Chief, Ismail Haniyeh in Iran’s capital Tehran.
Times investigation revealed that Haniyeh was killed by an explosive device hidden in a heavily guarded complex where he was known to stay in Iran.
Hezbollah, therefore, said in a statement on Wednesday that “Al-Sinwar’s appointment as head of Hamas political bureau is proof of Israel’s failure.
“Israel has not been able to achieve its goal — the killing of Hamas leaders and functionaries.”
“With al-Sinwar’s appointment, Hamas is also sending strong message to Israel and its allies, as Hamas remains steadfast and united in its decisions.
“It will continue on the path of resistance and struggle.”
