WASHINGTON (CHATNEWSTV) — The Justice Department on Monday announced the creation of a Task Force to Combat Anti-Semitism, following President Donald Trump’s executive order aimed at addressing rising incidents of anti-Jewish discrimination.
The multi-agency task force, coordinated through the Department’s Civil Rights Division, will focus initially on harassment in schools and college campuses. It will include representatives from the Departments of Education, Health and Human Services, and other federal agencies.
“Anti-Semitism in any environment is repugnant to this nation’s ideals,” said Leo Terrell, senior counsel to the assistant attorney general for civil rights, who will lead the task force. “The Department takes seriously our responsibility to eradicate this hatred wherever it is found.”
The initiative marks the administration’s renewed commitment to fighting anti-Semitism, Terrell said, calling it a critical step in protecting Jewish communities.
