A chieftain of the Labour Party–LP in Imo State, Engineer Goodnews Onyemzoroegbulem, has been assassinated.
Onyemzoroegbulem was assasinated on Wednesday by unknown assailants around his business premises in Obinze area of the State.
Though, having survived an earlier attempt in September, the Labour Party leader in Ahiazu Mbaise local government area of Imo State was again, ambushed and brutally killed by gunmen suspected to be political assassins.
Police authorities in Imo State are yet to issue a statement in respect to the unfortunate incident.
Meanwhile, this is coming after Labour Party House of Assembly candidate for Onuimo State Constituency Mr Christopher Elehu was assassinated by unidentified gunmen last December.
He was killed by gunmen suspected to be hired assassins. The criminal elements apart from killing him, also set his country home ablaze and destroyed his property including a motorcycle.
Imo has continued to be a killing field for political demagogues as the off cycle governorship election is set to take place on the 11 of November 2023.
Labour Party–LP supporters of recent, have been targeted and hounded by other big political parties in Imo who perceive them as threat following their growing influence in the state.
