The Arewa Youth Federation, AYF, has unequivocally dissociates itself from the planned mass protests purportedly against bad governance in Nigeria.
The group said the protests, clearly instigated by elements with ulterior motives and enemies of the state, threaten to destabilize our nation and set it on a destructive path.
A statement issued by its President, Kabir Mutazu said the group will not participate in any protests within the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
“The Northern youth understand the delicate state of our nation and recognize that such protests lack proper coordination, leadership, and a clear, positive objective. Engaging in such activities would only lead to chaos and undermine the stability and progress we have worked so hard to achieve.
“The Arewa Youth Federation stands in solidarity with the President and supports his administration’s efforts to steer Nigeria towards a prosperous future. We call on the government to intensify its efforts in reducing poverty and improving the welfare of the population, particularly in the Northern region, where the challenges are most acute.
“We urge our fellow Nigerians to reject any calls for protests that are not only ill conceived but also orchestrated by those who have no interest in the well being of our nation.
“These protests are not a genuine reflection of the people’s will but rather a reckless attempt to incite violence, bring disorder and distract the government from attending to the people priorities.
“As the authentic representatives of the Northern youth, we are committed to constructive dialogue and collaborative efforts that will lead to meaningful improvements in governance and the socio-economic conditions of our people.
“We believe in working within the framework of the law and through established democratic processes to achieve our goals.
“In conclusion, the Arewa Youth Federation reiterates its dissociation from any planned protests and reaffirms its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration. We remain committed to peace, stability, and the continued development of our beloved country, Nigeria,” he said.
