Mozambique concluded Day 02 of the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2024 afternoon with a closely contested victory over Malawi to secure the vital three points to their opening campaign in Hurghada.
Last season’s hosts and 2021 silver-medallists are yearning for a continental title, having been one of the tournament favourites in recent years.
Coming up against Malawi proved to be quite a challenge for Mozambique who had to wait until the dying moments to secure a narrow 4-3 victory over Malawi, who are making their second appearance at the finals following their debut in 2022.
While they will be disappointed with the loss, Malawi will draw confidence in their performance when they face a wounded Senegal who will be looking at redeeming themselves following their shock 5-2 defeat to debutants, Mauritania earlier in the day.
Mozambique on the other hand will face the highly confident Mauritanians who will be looking at continuing with their dream start to the competition.
