The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, delivered a resounding message on Tuesday, emphasizing that no individual is exempt from investigation by the commission within the country.
Speaking at a high-level meeting convened by the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr Musa Aliyu, Mr. Olukoyede underscored the commitment of the EFCC to upholding the rule of law and tackling corruption at all levels.
Highlighting the crucial role of political will in combating corruption, the EFCC boss commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s demonstrated commitment to the cause. He stated, “We believe that with the kind of President that we have, who is willing and ready to do the right thing as demonstrated in the last 48 hours. It is clear that the President is providing the political will and the leadership for the anti-corruption agencies to work, and I believe that with this, there’s no hiding place for us, and we must ensure that we give our best.”
Mr. Olukoyede affirmed the EFCC’s dedication to supporting the President’s efforts in the fight against corruption. He asserted, “We are going to give the President the right support, and we believe that the courage would be there to take the right decisions.”
In a bold declaration, the EFCC Chairman asserted the principle that nobody is too influential to be subject to investigation in the country. He emphasized, “Once you are not playing by the rules, we’ll investigate you.”
This statement reinforces the commitment of the EFCC to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and justice, signaling an unyielding stance against corruption at all levels of society.
