The EU acknowledged the election results while regretting the absence of participation by all major parties in the electoral process. Highlighting the commitment to transparency, the statement welcomed the authorities’ decision to disclose the forthcoming report and recommendations of the EU Election Expert Mission. It urged relevant authorities to conduct a thorough and timely investigation into any reported election irregularities.
Expressing deep concern over acts of violence during the electoral period, the EU called for restraint from all parties in the post-election phase.
