Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has resumed collection of access gate fees at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
FAAN announced the development in a post on its official X account on Saturday.
The government agency noted that the collection commenced on Saturday 8 February 2025.
The statement reads, “The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) wishes to inform the general public that the authority has officially resumed collection of access gate fees at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at 8:30am, 8th February, 2025.”
“The charges was suspended January 24, due to inconveniences caused by ongoing road construction at the airport.”
FAAN also thanked the public for their understanding and cooperation during the suspension period.
Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation on 14 May 2025, announced that all citizens, including the president and vice-president, would pay tolls at the nation’s airports.
Keyamo noted that the government was losing over 82 percent of the revenue it should have earned from the access fee.
Following the directive, FAAN began the sale of electronic tags (e-tags) at airports to streamline access fee payments at federal airports.
The agency said motorists without e-tags will have option to pay in cash at the access gates
