MIES (Switzerland) – The FIBA Foundation, the social and legacy arm of FIBA, is pleased to announce the launch of its annual call for projects through the “Propose a Project” platform, starting on January 15 until March 31.
The FIBA Foundation believes that basketball can serve as a catalyst to empower, educate, and inspire youth through the implementation of Basketball For Good projects around the world. Through the “Propose a Project” initiative, the FIBA Foundation supports projects that align with its vision and mission and invites the global basketball community to submit applications.
The “Propose a Project” platform aims to expand the Basketball For Good family by endorsing projects that leverage basketball to address the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By utilizing basketball as a catalyst for positive change, the Foundation aspires to make a meaningful impact in communities worldwide.
In the year 2023, an unprecedented milestone was achieved with 42 projects supported across 35 different countries.
Applicants are encouraged to identify one of the five project categories when seeking support from the FIBA Foundation. These categories include Health & Wellbeing, Equality & Inclusion, Culture and Education, Peace and Conflict Resolution and Climate & Environment.
Supported projects will receive financial, equipment, and/or mentoring support and join the wider Basketball For Good community with additional opportunities for exchange, mentoring, and support.
Notification of successful applications will be provided by the FIBA Foundation before August 2024. To be eligible for support, applications must adhere to the guidelines and include a letter of support from their respective National Federation.
