The largest single-train refinery in the world, Dangote refinery, has officially commenced the production of refined petroleum products on Friday.
This is coming after the refinery with 650,000 capacity received the final 6th batch of one million barrels of crude oil required by the plant for its initial operations.
The initial run will be for the production of diesel and aviation fuel before moving on to petrol output.
The $19 billion refinery require a minimum of six million barrels of crude oil to begin full production of refined petroleum products such as AGO, PMS, Jet A1 and Dual Purpose Kerosene, often known as kerosene.
The refinery which was inaugurated by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 in Lagos State is expected to address the issue of petrol scarcity in Nigeria and West Africa sub region.
