BERLIN (ChatnewsTV) — The Foreign Ministers of Finland and Germany issued a joint statement on Monday, expressing deep concern over the severed undersea cable in the Baltic Sea that connects the two countries.
“We are deeply concerned about the severed undersea cable connecting Finland and Germany in the Baltic Sea,” the statement read. “The fact that such an incident immediately raises suspicions of intentional damage speaks volumes about the volatility of our times.”
The ministers emphasized that the ongoing investigation is a top priority, as the incident highlights the increasing threats to European security, particularly in the face of Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine and the rising dangers of hybrid warfare.
“Our European security is not only under threat from Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, but also from hybrid warfare by malicious actors,” the statement continued. “Safeguarding our shared critical infrastructure is vital to our security and the resilience of our societies.”
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and authorities have not yet concluded whether the severing of the cable was an act of sabotage.
