The German men’s basketball team will have to do without NBA star Moritz Wagner at this year’s European Championship.
The world champion from the Orlando Magic has ruled out taking part in the tournament in Cyprus, Finland, Poland and Latvia from August 27 to September 14 after tearing his cruciate knee ligament.
“I think you can put one and one together that I won’t be wearing the German jersey this year, to put it bluntly, simply because it doesn’t make sense,” the 27-year-old told his own podcast on Thursday.
The older of the two Wagner brothers has not yet undergone surgery after suffering the injury late last year against the Miami Heat.
