ACCRA, Ghana, January 25, 2024 /ChatNews TV/ — Ghana Railways is set to receive the first batch of 12 state-of-the-art trains from Poland, marking a pivotal moment for the nation’s transportation sector. The trains, designed to operate seamlessly on both regional and long-distance lines, are expected to reach Ghana by mid-February.
The procurement of these modern trains is part of a comprehensive framework contract between Ghana Railways and a Polish manufacturer, with the option for the ordering party to include an additional 10 vehicles in the future. The technical specifications of these diesel multiple units align closely with the renowned RegioFox vehicles produced by Bydgoszcz for Czech Railways.
According to Rynek Kolejowy, a prominent rail industry source, confirmation of the production of the initial vehicle came in September, marking a significant milestone in the collaboration between Ghana and the Polish manufacturing hub.

Railway enthusiasts, Michał Bis captured images of the vehicle during its testing phase. Excitement looms as there are indications that the new diesel multiple unit might commence its journey to Africa before the close of this month.

The introduction of these modern trains is expected to elevate the overall passenger experience and contribute to the economic development of the regions served by the railway network.
