Recognised for her contributions in these fields, Dr Imafidon has received numerous accolades, including the UK IT Industry & British Computer Society’s Young IT Professional of the Year in 2013 and an MBE in 2017 for her services to young women and STEM sectors.

As co-founder of Stemettes, she has spearheaded initiatives to inspire the next generation of females in STEM roles, reaching more than 60,000 young people across the UK, Ireland, and Europe.

A sought-after keynote speaker and presenter, Dr Imafidon continues to make significant contributions to the advancement of women in technology, earning recognition as the most influential woman in tech in the UK in 2020.

Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE said: “To be welcomed to an institution that stands for the Common Good is one of the greatest honours of my life. I’ve always loved spending time in Glasgow – and look forward to representing Glasgow Caledonian University as it enters a new era. Here’s to the Common Good and to being an ambassador for great ambitions, transformational education and high impact research. I can’t wait to get comfortable in the University tartan!”

“Welcome to the GCU alumni family. I promise to serve you all well as your chancellor. As an east Londoner who loves maths, tech and helping people, I feel at home here.”, Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon said at the installation ceremony.

Glasgow Caledonian Chair of Court, Rob Woodward said:

“The University Court is thrilled to announce, Dr Anne-Marie Imafidon MBE, a passionate advocate for education, equality and diversity, as the new Chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian University. We very much look forward to working together in the years ahead to further deliver our mission as the University for the Common Good.”
