The governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umaru-Bago, has described as unfortunate the death of scores of people on Saturday in a petrol tanker explosion at Dikko junction on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.
In a statement by his spokesman, Bologi Ibrahim, the governor said the incident was worrisome.
He sympathised with the families of the victims and prayed Allah to repose the souls of the departed and heal the injured.
Mr Umaru-Bago advised the people to always behave responsibly and prioritise their safety.
He directed relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to do what was necessary to assist the families of the dead and provide care for the injured.
The News Agency of Nigeria recalls the tanker fell at Dikko junction, after which some residents of the area went to scoop its content and an explosion occurred.
The following inferno led to the death of many while several others sustained various degrees of burns.
