‘I Will Disown My Son If He Marries A Yoruba Woman’ — Daddy Freeze

Must read

In a candid conversation, Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, has expressed his concerns about tribalism and its impact on his family.

He stated, “I will disown my son if he marries a Yoruba woman and he will lose his inheritance.” His fears stem from the experiences of Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour during the last Lagos Gubernatorial election, where Rhodes-Vivour faced criticism simply because his parents were from different tribes.

Mr. John further explained his stance, saying, “In the past, I used to believe that the section of state of origin should be taken out of our constitution. I am of the opinion that everyone should be addressed to be from where they reside.” He believes that the last election highlighted the deep-seated tribalism in society, as Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour was judged by people simply because his two parents are not from the same place.

He expressed his concerns for his grandchildren, stating, “I won’t want to see a reason why I will allow any of my grandchildren to go through the same process.”

On the other hand, popular broadcaster Daddy Freeze shared a different perspective. He believes in the importance of raising children to be detribalized. He said, “I think it is good for parents to raise their children to be detribalized. We can start this by allowing them to marry whoever they want and not who we, the parents, want for them.”
