Igbokwe to Presidential Aspirants: Tinubu Will Lead Until 2031

As Nigeria gears up for the 2027 general elections, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has cautioned those eyeing the presidency to abandon their ambitions.

The statement comes amid growing speculation that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are considering a partnership to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the next election.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Igbokwe warned potential contenders to desist, insisting that Tinubu would remain Nigeria’s president until 2031.

“If any presidential aspirant is dreaming of winning presidential elections in 2027, I will advise that candidate to perish the thought till 2031,” Igbokwe wrote.

The APC stalwart emphasized the need for Tinubu to secure a second term to “set the records straight,” reiterating his belief that the president is destined for an eight-year tenure.
